Gender Diverse Ultimate
The Gender Diverse Sweets Ultimate team is a spirited, competitive club that plays Division III ultimate at the intersection of high-level performance and playful team culture.
The group welcomes women and nonbinary students of all experience levels, from first-time players to seasoned competitors, and encourages anyone curious about ultimate to come toss on Ankeny Field and get involved. The team values inclusivity, mutual support, and joy on and off the field, balancing serious training and tournaments with music, dancing, and strong community traditions.
Gender-Diverse Sweets Competition Details
The Gender Diverse Sweets practice twice a week and compete throughout the academic year, with a main competitive season running from January through April. In the fall, they attend West Coast tournaments and scrimmages; after winter break, they focus on sanctioned events that impact regional and national seeding, culminating in the series (sectionals, regionals, and nationals).
With the Men’s Sweets, they also host OnionFest (OFest), a home tournament held on Whitman’s campus in early April that brings in teams from around the region.
Recent Highlights
- 2026: Ranked No. 5 in Ultiworld’s D-III college preseason power rankings.
- 2025: Finished the season ranked seventh nationally in the D-III power rankings with a 20–3 record and a T-5th place finish at Nationals.‹
- 2024: Player Gemma Munck Donovan named a finalist for the Donovan Award, recognizing excellence in D-III women’s division ultimate.‹
