Alpine Ski Team

The ³Ô¹ÏÍø Alpine Ski Team is a student-run, co-ed club sport with a history on campus dating back to the 1930s. Each season, the team welcomes approximately 20–25 athletes who compete in the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Pacific Northwest conference.

While prior racing experience is not required, members are expected to be confident skiers who are excited to improve, support their teammates, and spend winter weekends on snow. The team prides itself on being a close-knit community where students share a lifelong love of skiing and the mountains.

Alpine Skiing Competition Details

The Alpine Ski Team’s race schedule typically includes eight conference races spread over four weekends beginning in January. Depending on performance, the team may qualify for regional and national championships hosted at ski areas across the country such as Lookout Pass (MT), Taos Mountain (NM), Summit at Snoqualmie (WA), and Silver Mountain (ID).

In addition to competitions, the team holds an annual training weekend at nearby Bluewood, giving both new and experienced racers the chance to refine slalom and giant slalom technique in a supportive setting. Over the decades, Whitman Alpine skiers have contributed to an impressive legacy, including national championships and numerous All-American honors.
