Most study abroad programs require that applicants pay an enrollment deposit to the program within one or two weeks of being offered admission in order to confirm their intention to enroll.

Enrollment deposits usually range in price from $400–$1400.

Whitman study abroad participants pay the program's enrollment deposit themselves directly to the program that they will be attending. Students should plan for this expense the semester they apply for study abroad.

Enrollment deposits are almost always nonrefundable. A student who withdraws from their study abroad program after paying the deposit will not receive a refund on their deposit.
