A Proper Monument?

April 11–May 5, 2018:
On Oct. 9, 2017, the statue of Marcus Whitman on Boyer and Main was spray-painted red, and a portrait of Narcissa Whitman hanging in Prentiss Hall was defaced with black spray paint. This exhibition, curated by the staff at the Maxey Museum, interrogates the role of monuments and object memorials to the Whitmans on campus.
