3-3 Program with Columbia Law School

³Ô¹ÏÍø is one of a select group of undergraduate institutions to participate in a 3-3 dual-degree program with Columbia University—its Accelerated Interdisciplinary Legal Education (AILE) Program. You’ll spend three years at Whitman and three years at Columbia Law School, graduating with both a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor in six years.

If you’re considering pursuing this program, here’s what Whitman’s pre-law advisors recommend you keep in mind:

1. Admission to Whitman does not guarantee admission to Columbia Law School. To participate in this program, students must excel academically. Whitman’s pre-law advisors generally recommend, even for our best students, completing four years of undergraduate study before beginning law school in order to get the most out of their undergraduate and legal education.

2. To be eligible for the 3-3 program at Columbia, students must complete the following by the end of their junior year at Whitman:

    • All of their General Studies requirements
    • Most, if not all, of the requirements for their Whitman major

3. Before declaring a major, students interested in this program should check to see whether the senior requirements for their major are compatible with participation in this 3-3 program.
