Conducting Young Voices: One Music Major Unique Experience With the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Youth Choir [Video]

Videography by Patrick Record

Millie Atack ’26, a Music (Vocal Performance) major from Seattle, is learning how to bring music to life as a youth assistant for the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Youth Choir, conducted by Assistant Professor of Music Laney Armstrong. Working with students in grades K–7, Millie helps lead rehearsals, support young singers and build a sense of community through music.

Through her independent study in choral conducting, Millie turns classroom learning into real-world practice each week. By guiding young musicians and gaining hands-on experience, she’s discovering the power of leadership, confidence and connection through the arts.

Come Hear the Singers!

The ³Ô¹ÏÍø Youth Choir will perform its spring concert on Friday, March 20, from 7–8 p.m., in the Hall of Music’s Chism Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
